Sperm donation

Sperm donation

Sperm donation is a program that makes it possible to have children in cases of total male infertility.

The use of donor sperm is performed when no sperm is produced in the testicles of the spouse for various reasons. This procedure is also used for serious illnesses that can be passed on to the child. Also, sperm donation services are increasingly used by single women who do not have a sexual partner for conception.

The donor sperm is used in cases of severe male infertility, after several unsuccessful attempts of intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI), and avoiding the transfer of a genetic pathology from man to child, for intrauterine insemination or in vitro fertilization (IVF).

The main requirements for the selection of the sperm donor are:

  • Age from 20 to 40 years old;
  • Your children are healthy;
  • The parameters of the spermogram must display typical values (progressive mobility and a large number of healthy sperm in the ejaculate);
  • The absence of any sexually transmitted infection (including HIV, hepatitis, syphilis, etc.);
  • The absence of genetic diseases.

Sexual abstinence for 3 to 5 days is recommended before sperm donation.

Once the donor has made a sperm donation, it is frozen, and after 6 months, the donor retakes all the tests. If no disease is detected, the biological material is used for artificial insemination.

Donor sperm is used for in vitro fertilization (IVF) and artificial insemination.

Anonymity and confidentiality are respected. Customers do not receive personal data from a sperm donor. The donor has no parental rights over the child; therefore, he is not mentioned as the father of the child and has no maintenance obligation.
