For years, infertile couples have been using "in vitro fertilization" techniques to be able to hold their child in their arms. Today, there are two quite effective techniques: ICSI and PICSI.
In vitro fertilization ICSI: how does it work?
What is an “in vitro fertilization” ICSI? This procedure consists of injecting a single sperm into the oocyte. It is often used when the meeting of spermatozoa and oocytes is complicated even “in vitro.”
The ICSI technique consists of selecting mature spermatozoa based on microscopic observation. The choice is therefore entirely subjective and, despite a reasonably precise procedure, does not always allow us to choose the most mature spermatozoa that have less damage to their DNA. However, these conditions are necessary for the success of IVF.
IVF PICSI: what are the benefits?
The PICSI method is more effective and more objective in the selection of sperm. In contrast to ICSI, it allows you to select only quality sperm by reducing the risk of chromosomal abnormalities. Their quality is significantly better than that of sperm determined by observation.
This method increases the chances of getting pregnant, and several publications confirm its usefulness.
