Consta de 46 cromosomas: 22 pares de autosomas (los mismos para hombres y mujeres) y un par de cromosomas sexuales. El cariotipo de una persona es el mismo durante toda su vida.<\/p>\n<p>Mientras que el \u0413\u0456vulo contiene 22 cromosomas y un cromosoma sexual X, el esperma contiene 22 cromosomas y un cromosoma sexual X o Y.<\/p>\n<p>Cada cromosoma contiene genes. Cuando los \u0413\u0456vulos y los espermatozoides se fusionan, su material gen\u0413\u00a9tico se combina para formar un futuro ser humano con 46 cromosomas.<\/p>\n<p>El sexo del feto depende del tipo de cromosoma sexual que aporten los espermatozoides. <em>La fecundaci\u0413\u0456n del \u0413\u0456vulo, que se produce con un espermatozoide portador de un cromosoma X, dar\u0413\u040e lugar a una ni\u0413\u00b1a.
