Male infertility: nenecrozoospermia, how to diagnose it?

April 22, 2021

In an infertile couple, it is often thought that the problem is linked to the woman's health, whereas in 30% of cases the man is the cause. Necrozoospermia is one of the many causes of male infertility. In this case, the condition is due to the presence of too many dead spermatozoa, preventing procreation.

Symptoms of necrozoospermia

Necrozoospermia has no visible symptoms. Most patients discover this abnormality by consulting a doctor after they have noticed that they are having difficulty having a child. In order to diagnose the problem, a sample of their sperm is analyzed with a dye. When these die, they lose their impermeability and become colored, indicating the extent of the condition.

Treatment of necrozoospermia

The treatment of necrozoospermia depends on the extent of the abnormality. In partial necrozoospermia, in-vitro fertilization can be performed by injecting a live, viable sperm into the oocyte. In the case of complete necrozoospermia, sperm must be collected directly from the testicles.

However, if none of these solutions work, it is advisable to turn to Medically Assisted Procreation (MAP) with sperm donation.
