Diagnosis of female infertility

The difficulty conceiving is a common problem, which requires significant effort to give birth to a baby. Infertility can be diagnosed when a woman fails to get pregnant after one year of regular sexual activity with her partner.

The first step in the examination is to collect an anamnesis from the patient.

Additional examinations for female infertility include:

  • Pelvic ultrasound which makes it possible to specify the size of the uterus, to detect likely fibroids (myomas) and other cysts;
  • Radiological examination of the uterus and fallopian tubes;
  • Hormonal balance – the analysis of hormone levels in the blood: prolactin, FSH (follicle-stimulating hormone), LH (luteinizing hormone), estradiol, etc receiving an accurate result, these tests should be done on certain days of the menstrual cycle;
  • Screening test for sexually transmitted infections;
  • Hysteroscopy, which makes it possible to observe the uterine cavity visually, as well as to perform surgical procedures (removal of polyps and adhesions, biopsy samples, etc.);
  • Laparoscopy is a microsurgical procedure to study the abdominal cavity and analyze the patency of the fallopian tubes.
  • The karyotype is carried out to study all of the chromosomes of the two partners.
