Embryo donation

Embryo donation

Embryo donation is the implantation of embryos from donors into the womb of a sterile woman.

The main indications for the use of embryos from donors are infertility in both men and women, severe cases of female and male genetic abnormalities, as well as the failure of repeated attempts at fertilization programs In Vitro (IVF) using only sperm and eggs from donors.

Embryo donation is recommended for women wishing to have a child without a partner or for specific medical indications. Embryos can be obtained using eggs and sperm from donors. After successful fertilization, they are transferred to the patient’s uterus. The donation can also concern single women during menopause.

The stages of embryo donation:

  1.  Donor selection;
  2. Synchronization of the recipient and donor cycle;
  3. The ovarian stimulation of the donor;
  4. Collection of donor eggs, fertilization with cryopreserved donor sperm;
  5. The embryo transfer;
  6. Support for the luteal phase and diagnosis of pregnancy.

Nowadays, an IVF method makes it possible to obtain more embryos than it is possible to implant in the uterine cavity at one time. One or two embryos are usually transferred.

Embryo donors can be patients who have already successfully followed an In Vitro fertilization protocol and who have cryopreserved embryos after the birth of their healthy baby. By written consent, some couples agree to transfer their frozen embryos to other clients.

For the choice of embryos, it is possible to specify hair color, eyes, and skin so that the medical team selects the best embryo according to your preferences, according to the similarities between the donor and the recipient.
